Default Oil Filter Heat Blanket

In the interest of over-kill, after wrapping my headers and fixing my heatshield on the oil filter mount, I decided to add extra heat shielding. I had some thermal blanket material (rated to 1200) so I traced out a pattern of the metal shield, cut some fabric that was 1" larger all around and then did a quick hem. The piece slid on top of the existing heat shield and only required two binder clips to hold it in place. The handles on the clips were easy to remove, leaving just the small black metal pieces holding the shield in place. Total time for cutting pattern, sewing piece and installation was 1 hour.

For effort #2 I think I will:
I will sew some heavy gauge stainless wire in the hem to help hold the edge in place.
I will source some Kevlar thread so it better withstands the heat and oil.

That's actually a very interesting idea. There are a couple of things near
the headers that could use heat shielding....for instance, the motor mount.
(if still running stock mounts)

It looks like yours is big enough to cover that area as well. Cool.

Thanks guys. Yes it does cover the motor mounts nicely.
It was such an easy thing to do, if it is even slightly effective, it was worth the minimal effort. I've got a couple "orders" from my buddies here to make a couple more over the holidays, but I want to wait till I get the Kevlar thread in.
