Post Wierdest thing I have ever seen(in a car)!

Check this out. I come into my driveway last week in second gear and pull up to my house, Push in the clutch and put it in neutral and turn off the engine. For now all is well. Three days later I have a party to go to so I hop in the 951, push the clutch, start the engine and try to put it in first gear but it won't go into gear so I try 2nd, 3rd and 4th and it's just stuck so with the shifter still stuck in the neutral position, I let out the clutch and the damn thing starts to move and it felt like it was in 3rd, I push the clutch back in and try wiggle the shifter and then I put it in 5th and it goes in but this locks up the tranny and the car won't move and in would also go in reverse but this locks it up as well so basically the tranny is in 3rd and no way to come out of 3rd.

The next day, after my hangover subsides a bit, I pull the tranny and take the cover plate off the right side to get at the shift mechanism and there it is, the shift rod for 3rd and 4th is pushed forward engaging 3rd while the shift arm is not even in that gate. I reach in there and disengage 3rd and the run the shift mechanism through all the gears and it works perfectly, the 3rd/4th rod snaps into each gear and its neutral position just as it should. I seems like one of those freak things that just never happens. I put the tranny back in and it has work fine since.

Have any of you guys ever seen anything like this? I have had more cars than I could ever remember and I have never had this happen before.
