I think the oil pan has to come out do to a groove in the oil pump. You will need some Loctite 574, a new oil pan gasket, and some Ultragrey RTV or Yamabond.
If you have not done it, you might as well do the front seals, belts, water pump, bearings, … ooppss! I got carried away.
Let me get my camera and post some photos on this.

Here you go:
The oil pan gasket will not let you pull it out without removing the pan. Also, there is sealant that you must apply when installing back the oil pan gasket (Ultragrey or Yamabond or Silastic 730 RTV ). It goes in each corner (white residue you see in the corner of the oil pump where the groove ends).
