Unhappy She left me sit...HELP

I finally have a techinical post. Sadly...

I'll make this short since I'm in a hurry...

Car was driven slowly through standing water. It was fine for a few miles then when I started to speed up and at about 2k rpm's it started getting really rough and started to buck. I slowed down and it was fine. So I try again and it does the same thing. I come to an intersection and as I stop the car dies. I try to start it and it doesn't start. I look under the hood to see all the electrical stuff by the headlight motor all wet.

I'm guessing that I got one of the components wet. Which one would most likely gotten wet?

Do you think that if I let it sit for a few hours it will eventually dry it self?

Or should I start pulling the parts, drive home and try to dry them with a hair dryer or something?

I'm stuck somewhere that I can't stay very long so I need answers as soon as you can give them please.

I would just like to thank the person that finally stopped and helped me push my car off the road.

Another 944 even passed me...he did wave though...I would have at least stopped...I guess he was in a hurry.

Hopefully you didn't suck any water in through the air cleaner. Pull the dist. cap and try drying it out with a hair dryer.
Good luck

EGADS! I hope you didn't hydro-lock your car...

Word to the wise, folks, especially if you have a series one car with a stock airfilter box. NEVER drive through standing water deeper than about 3". The results can be pretty devestating.

Tim, I hope you are right and have just a wet electrical connection.

Regards,

Well I went back to the stop with my tools and I didn't need them.

When and tried to start her and she fired right up. I moved the car to a parking lot and thats where she sits.

Thanks for reading guys and trying to help!

Maybe I'll change the cap, rotor, and coil soon. Nah, I'll just avoid large bodies of water.

The timing belt will draw water up and into the back of the dist. cap before the snorkel on the stock air cleaner can suck water in. There is supposed to be a sheild or baffel behind the rotor to keep this from happening. There is a small breather tube between the belt housing and the stock air cleaner that needs to be removed and the holes capped.

When you hydro lock the engine stops turing. If you are moving forward it's just like someone reached over and pulled the E-brake.
