Cool On the road again....

(humming Willie Nelson tune in her head)

It's done! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

I can't believe I was able to pull it off. I wouldn't have been able to do it w/o everyone's help

I put everything back together and took'er for a spin around the block. Everything works great: speedo, backup lights, TRANSAXLE!

Thanx to everyone who assisted me in getting this done...especially Michael who practically took the thing out by himself. You guys were quick with answers and made this possible. However, I found a guy who'll put a timing belt in for $250. I don't think I'll be needing ya for that one

Thanx again guys! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Glad to hear your back on the road!!!

My .002 worth on the 250 belt job.

If he hasent worked on P-cars before you may want to reconsider this if you want your nice running car that you just got back on the road to stay that way. A bad timing belt job can cost you alot more than you will be saving on the job. Think about it, the parts alone come to almost $280. and I dont know any mechs who are willing to pay a customer to come in there shop. If you are in the Boston area there is a small group of us that would be more than willing to assist you in this job for nothing more than the BBQ fixens and a hand. Oh you need to buy the parts. We have all the tools.

The $250 is labor. The guy owns a VW/Porsche shop and came highly recommended from many people in town...including the parts manager at the veedub dealership.

It's too bad I don't live near Boston...I *love* BBQ and would be more than happy to trade my cooking expertise for a timing belt job

Somewhere in IL (I think...too tired to know right now)
