Every now and then, when hit a bump or pothole (unavoidable on DC Meto area roads) while the AC is on, all of a sudden I get hot air blasting through the vents. I shut off the compressor, turn the fan to 0, then turn both back on. The air then gets cold again.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? Car is an 86 944 n/a.

Two shots in the dark....
1. The connections at the back of the A/C control unit are loose. In one instance one of the plugs came apart. The back popped off, and the connectors did not make contact, no voltage to the compressor...no A/C.
2. There is a single wire that comes off the compressor. It is black and goes about a foot to a speed connector. Just hangs there, could be loose, and shakes out of position.
Like I said two shots in the dark...
