86 944 Turbo Bumper Conversion
Has anyone done a bumper conversion on their '86 944. I am looking into doing this but am not sure what I have to change. Performance Products sells a turbo bumper conversion. Is that all I need? How much do you think this would cost?

I just looked into it for my 86. the bumper is 450. not bad but the lights you need are at least another 780! even with the discounts and the best price perf prod had was 990 for the parts needed and then you have to pay shipping. too much if you ask me.

From what I've heard, it's difficult to get the fiberglass fitted properly and you end up with something that doesn't look _quite_ right.
Might be better (even cheaper?) to find a 951 with enough rear end damage that owner is parting it out and get the front end from there...you're going to be fitting/primering/painting it anyway, so a slightly worn one wouldn't be out of the question...
For weight savings on a track car, I'm sure the fiberglass one from Perf. Prod would work fine.
Let me know if you do this, I'd be interested to hear about it.

you will have to remove your old bumper and bumper shocks...
then when putting the new bumper on, you will need metal railing that go along the fender and bolt the bumper on.. they dont fit quite right, so u will have to drill the holes around to get them to match up...
then you will need lights, and that is it

I've been thinking about this a bit. What if you bought turbo bumper shocks and fabricated a metal brace for them to mount to in the nose panel, so that it would look proper and have *some* crash protection?
