Default ATTENTION 944S OWNERS-headers available!!

Hey...I was just talking via email to Dave Lindsey (Lindsey Racing) they have acquired MSDS headers for the 944S...$395.00...not too bad of a price. 1 piece too...lighter....sexy...they will even ceramic coat them. (MSDS will)

I emailed them directly to see what they have dyno-proven for the stock engine.

Perhaps a new addition this winter....

If only it fit an S2, it would be a much more economical option then everything else available

Why wouldnt it fit an S2? The intake fits the S and S2 - I should imagine the exhausts would be very similar as well!

Ps - I have an S car running on the euro map with no cat/o2 sensor and would be interested in this!

Where did you get the Euro mapping from..? Do you have the .bin file..?

I would think the S and S2 heads are the same/simalar too... I have heard that the Exhaust cam in the S model 16valves has a different spec than the S2 cam but i have not been able to verify this... and i know that the major differences really lay in the lower end being that the S2 is a 3L...

And $400 bucks isnt too bad... not like the crazy prices ive seen for some other headers on websites with $1000 price tags pffft..!

Being a 4 in to 1 this should be an inhibitor on low end performance.
Dannie - I believe your computer already stores the bin file unused. There is a jumper near the plug for your altitude switch. If you look at the electrical diagrams you'll see that if you arrange the jumper correctly - it will use the euro map. The prime difference is that the part throttle maps are dynamic for the euro because they do not utilize the oxygen sensor. A part throttle map for a car with the O2 sensor would be constantly polling it for part throttle fuel mixture.
Also, the entire map set is written for no catilytic. Search for the FRwilk page on 944 DME's - its a good place to start.

I agree the 4 to 1 will rob a little bit from the bottom end I seen a nice 4-2-1 header but it wasnt $400 bucks either lol

Thanks for the Link... Good site... Im not sure now because My car has a Wiltminister chip in it already... so Im wondering now if that is a factor... I will have to mess around with it and find out... Im saving up for a chip burner once i get it im going to copy my stock and welt chips and compare the coding and then begin to change and mod from there on out...

Well...Martin from MSDS advised me that they havn't dyno'd the headers, but they run them in 944Spec at VIR...over the stock manifold they saw -1.5 seconds per lap.

He said Lindsey will likely do a dyno on them.

?

I asked him, conservatively, will we see +10% HP gains....I'm waiting on his reply.

Stay tuned.

No, im using the stock euro map that is stored in the DME already. Would love to see a dyno for this 4 in to 1 by MSDS. I would definitely buy a set of these if they made a reasonable difference. The S engine is all about peak power anyways.

What would the difference be between a euro map and say the 944S MaxHP chip?

Its hard to say. I have no idea what Russell barry did on his chip, but I've heard "its good". Thats not really a quantifiable measurement but he has some dyno's to prove a gain so we can't argue too much!

The biggest difference is that the euro map was written for a car not using a cat, and not using an o2 sensor. To pull this off, the fuel maps have to be dynamic (changing with RPM between idle and full throttle) wheras fuel maps with the o2 sensor can be static (only one value in the fuel table) and from there on it is manipulated by the 02 sensor at part throttle to find the correct fueling.(either more or less fuel than the static value)

At WOT both versions use a predetermined table and ignore the o2 so at WOT there should be no difference.

I'm confused, MSDS has been offering headers for the 944S for at least 10 years now. Basically just 1/2 a 928S4 set.
Except the 928S4 headers are $600 a pair, 944S $400 for one.....

The collector is a bit different between the two. I wonder if they will sell a 944S header with this collector:

I was surfing Lindsey's site...that's where I found the headers...and MSDS makes them. I didn't know they did.

I guess they are "new" to Lindsey?

Anyone know the power gains on the S4 or GTS? Divide that by about 2.15 and you might get that much on the 4 cyl.
