Red face Just totaled up receipts...

I looked in the glove box today and found all the receipts from repair bills on my 84 944. Since the car was bought in 1989, we have spent a grand total of 11,676.56 (this does not include the purchase price). This includes everything from new clutch and Transmission to spark plugs!
By the way....

<img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" /> NEVER TOTAL YOUR RECEIPTS!!! <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />

Very similar total in our big folder full of receipts
for all the parts/accessories we have purchased over 5 years of owning our '84. Also includes sport seats and a set of fuchs.

RMills944, what's that? Less than $1K a year? You couldn't have leased a car for that much. Let alone a Porsche.

Yeah actaully that is not bad. And the cars still runs great and looks good.

How many 13 yr old Hondas, Toyotas, Mercs, or BMWs can say the same???

Over the life of my 951 (I'm the 4th owner), there has been over $25,000 worth of repair work and cosmetic upgrades. Owner number 3 got hit the hardest. He dropped over $12,000 in the year and a half he owned it (no wonder he sold it). I'm in second place with $7,000 over 5 years (but about half of that was cosmetic - new wheels, new tires, 968 mirrors, 968 door handles, ect.)!

Yikes! Could have been worse--You could have bought the car NEW for $28k, and still put in all that maintainance!

I know from owning toyotas back in the states that the maintainence is a lot cheaper and has to be done less often. BMW's and Mercs, you should see how many of them are still driving around over here. That is all you see.

I have $8300 in 15k miles, and 29 months. If I take out the labor and 17" wheels/tires I have receipts for $4,500 in parts into the car since October 2000.

i put a whopping 600 of those miles on the car since this past october. weather and prego wife were to blame for the low miles these past few months. but it is a record amount of time for no $ investment.

You don't wanna know.

Really, it does bust down to $1k a year, and that is not bad at all.
