I threw together this animated gif of the different front bumper positions. This isn't my car, just one that I found a picture of. I really like the sunken look without the bumperettes. Bumper Gif

here is my snubbed nose, did it a while ago. i think it is one of the best things i have done to my car so far. i like it much better than stock. and like you said, its cheap if you want to take it back to stock.

I'm seriously considering doing this to my S at the same time I do the paint/bodywork. What exactly is the process? Also, do you also remove the rear bumper pads as well?

i'm planning on leaving the rear pads on in case i get rear-ended. it's a personal choice.

CR, your car is so fine man. a lot like what mine is going to look like soon. same bumper treatment, ordered a turbo rear valance yesterday. rims and a tint too. nice work tho.

brett i got those gaps bondo'ed in and let me get another look at that screw and ill get back to you.

peace

ok another question.... what do i use to cut these nubs off. and... if i cut the nubs off is it going to weaken the strength of the bumper... isnt that whats holding the brakets onto the back of it?

Brett,

I have a question as long as you've been working on the bumper. What's holding the black bumperettes onto the bumper? One of mine is loose and before I investigate, I want to know if there's just a little nut back there I can tighten or if it's more complicated.

Is taking off the whole bumper to get at the back of it as easy as undoing the two bolts underneath?

Good luck with the rest of your project. We should have a Wisconsin beer night sometime.

Thanks,

there are two bolts that hold the front bumperettes on... i have a spare drivers side one in good shape if you want... $15 and shipping if thats the one you need. the bolts get rusty and nasty and the insides of the bumperette rust out... or it could just be loose. 10 mm i beleive.

good luck!

Can you post some better after pics? From those I don't think I would want to circumsize my bumper.

Edit: NM didn't see the ones on the second page.

Shaun (mideast mafia) did that a while back, and the results were great. I found the thread but the pictures are gone. Maybe he'll repost 'em for you.

My bumper too does not go in as far as others. It is due to a black tube type thing behind the drivers side of the bumper.

Im not sure what would stop it... there isnt anyhting behind it really, There is a wireing harness that is behind it that is held in place with some zip-ties, i cut those and moved it down a litle. you might want to try that. As for the holes it creates, you can either bondo it and put some touchup paint on it and try to get it to look nice. Or you can take some of the plugs that hold your rear carpet in place out and paint them and stick them int he holes. sand them down so theyre smooth first though.
