From those of you who have already installed these, which is the best place for the boost guage in the a-pillar, and why. Closer to the windshield or closer to driver. I am installing Autometer A/F and VDO boost and am trying to decide which guage to put in which spot.

boost in the first one closer to the windshield, much easier to read. the other is right out/close to the end of your peripheral vision.
I had them switched and then took it down and swapped them. Much better. good luck

Sam, I had the same issue with my pod, but once the screws are in, it fits much tighter (it also seems to have gotten better with some heat applied). As for the header panel/sunvisor issue, just toggle the a-pillar a hair, it should fit perfectly, mine was spot on!

I applied South Florida sunshine heat, that seemed to make it much more flexible over a couple days! With the screw in originally, there was a bit of a gap, but after a couple days the gap was gone (this is the gap visible from the front of the windshield)
