Driving around starved rock is awesome...I take my Triumph there a lot. I'd be up for a Midwest rally as well. Maybe somebody collects emails and sets up a gathering in mid to late April? I can organize it, if people are interested...
If you really want good roads (in Northern Illinois), go to Galena...awesome!

My God was it beautiful! You ski down the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The view was un-f*&%ing-believable! Gonna have to do a trip there in the 951 some weekend

Yeah. I guess the glaciers missed that part of Illinois, so it is nice and hilly (for Illinois anyways). Plus, Galena is just a nice town to spend the weekend. If you like twisty roads, I highly recommend it.
The wife & I took the 944 to Galena last summer. It was great! Stayed in a little bed-and-breakfast.
Starved rock is just a nice day drive from chicagoland. And you have a nice park to greet you at the end.
Either one is certainly fun.

There are some evidences of rock scouring as far south as Carbondale. thats why its so hilly up here. Drive around Freeport IL sometime.. Hey, this looks like Wisconsin!
Yep. Illinois is flat. he he he..</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">

Yeah, I'll have to look up the name of the one we stayed in. It was in the old brewery, on the highway (20, I believe) you use to get to Galena. It was very nice. There was a artist studio right next to it as well. The owners are artists.
We just drove to Galena and checked the visitors center for a B&B.
