Post 944 Air Flow Sensor

My 83 944 misses at idle. I have begun to perform tests based on the Bosch fuel injection book and the Haynes manual. So far I have found that the air temperature sensor is bad. Would this by itself be enough to make the engine miss at idle? Also, I understand I must replace the AFS to replace the air temp sensor. Does anyone have any experience with the rebuilt units?

Thanks in advance
