This morning the car was totally fine when i took it to school with the exception of a surge i have been having lately at 2400 RPM. But today the surge became radical and erratic. Today when I went to pick my girlfriend up the car wouldn't even hold an idle and bogged out. The only way to get the car started now is to put the gas to the floor while cranking. I have checked the fuel pump and it's working properly from the buzzing I hear in the rear of the car but the car will not start unless I do what i said up there. Is this ignition related or fuel injection system related. It sounds like when one cylinder doesn't fire correctly the whole motor stalls or bogs out. Well don't know if this is your problem for sure, but it sounds similar. Check your distributor cap. This morning my car surged at 4000 rpm. Weird. Happened again, and then as I neared my office the car would barely idle or run, and finally died. I thought it was fuel related so swapped out my fuel pressure regulator and DME relay (thanks Keith). Same symptoms...car would stay running for a few seconds only under full throttle. Checked injector driver with a noid light...looked good.
So you know what it was? The damn headlight linkage caught the coil wire and pulled the distributor cap up, freeing the lower mounting screw. With the cap loose, it ran fine for a day (I had noticed my headlights didn't go all the way down ONCE the day before), but then this morning the cap moved a bit...enough for the rotor to destroy itself and the cap. After a new cap and rotor and I was good to go. Needeless to say the coil wire is routed free of the linkage now.

Hey guys problem found!!!!!!!
Thanks JLeake for your assistance in this! Your problem was inspiring for me to help solve mine. The Nology Power Core (spark amplifier) cables had become loose and the positive ground fell off at the ignition coil. This caused the surge at 2400 rpm. The bogging out was actually the cable coming loose off of the ignition coil causing a significant loss of spark into the cylinders. Now I'm all tightened up and ready to go....I can thank my girlfriend too for helping me <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" />
