Default Mystery Resistery

Apologies for the dumb question, but who can tell me what these are?

There's one on each side of the engine compartment on my '90 S2. This is the passenger side pic, w/ a larger view for reference. The one on the driver's side is just in front of the vacuum hose that comes from the wheel well.

Are these possibly the ballast resisters for the fuel injectors? The electric schematic for Model 90 shows them on Sheet 8-D42, but can't seem to find them on any parts diagram anywhere. There are no ballast resisters on the '91 S2 according to the updated schematics for that model. The part number on the shell is just for the plastic shell clamp, and not the component itself.

I believe those are part of the ABS system.

It's just a plug.

Open up the clip on the black "barrel" thing, and you'll see the white cylindrical plug socket with smaller plugs plugged in on one end.

There are also things that look like that attached to the front struts... on those, one plug is the ABS sensor, the other is the brake pad wear sensor.

Default Yes, that's right.

That's what it is guys. Thx for the input. It's just a big-a$# connector to a small wiring harness. It has three ports, one for front brake wear indicator, one for front ABS sensor, and the third is open on my car - possibly some other option.
It's heavy duty (each connector individually grounded to chassis) so it must carry a fair amount of current. Also, because it's one big serial loop for the brake wear indicators - possibly to keep noise, and false alerts, low.

Mystery solved.
Thx,

DT

I doubt it's because they carry a lot of current; they are shielded to eliminate interference from ignition etc.
