I am in Beaumont, TX (80 miles E of Houston) wondering who is nearby and maybe interested in some kind of List Gathering.
No clue on what or where, but once we know who we are, maybe a good idea will surface....just a thought....

Sure Txhedg, but ya gotta pick up the tab!
We figure if you don't have a Porsche then you can afford the tab!

I got you beat.....my daily driver is a 750il ..... If I bring you my $7k shop bill (I kid you not) for the bimmer from last week, can I get out of paying the WHOLE tab? My 951 was CHEAP (if you exclude the 2 blown motors) compared to the V12 BMW.
Plus the fact that I work in an industry that is quickly on its way to extinction (merchant energy) should add to my "hardship" exclusion from covering the entire bill.

Add one more from Houston. I'm up for it, but I won't be able to drive my 944.
What are people thinking about? Picnic? Dinner? Beer and wings?
If people were so inclined we could meet at the Davey Jones Kart Zone. I don't know if they have the bar set up yet though.

you read my mind...i was just looking at the kartzone webpage
the only problem is squeezing into the kart seats for some of us "larger gals"...I went back when the kart place just opened, and although they had one or two "large" sized seats, they were still a bit too small for me and another buddy's XL-sized frames. driving a high-G kart with only one **** cheek and 1 shoulder blade in the seat is not a comfortable thing to do
I may call to see if they have upgraded to any xl-sized seats in the past year

I went there a few months ago and they had a few BIG seat karts. My buddy and I are both XL sized and we had no problems. I didn't like the seat placement very well. It required stretched out arms, but seat placement is critical in a kart and I imagine it was required for weight placement. I never had my kart set up for such a driving style, but I was a lot smaller last time I raced.
The karts are pretty well set up. A bit more understeer than I set mine up for, but then again, for folks who haven't raced karts before they are probably perfect. Driven well they were pretty neutral. They also feel a lot faster than they are because of the confines. They'd be a real rush for most folks.

This thing is starting to take on a life of its own, which is good. I threw out the bone. Houston sounds like a good idea, is a Houston guy out there that want's to coordinate? I know nothing about Houston. (except for the airports).
The Kart Zone sounds good. Do they have group rates?

Amazing - I drove by Kart Zone a few weeks ago and was thinking that might work. Then I started reading the 928 crowds plan for a Bastrop State Park run and thought I'd look into something along those lines.
The local PCA club had a run to Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park a few years ago. Nice picnic area, plenty of parking, lots of trees for shade. I wanted to make a run out there this weekend to check it out with a goal of doing something in October.
With that in mind for October - let's shoot for Kart Zone this month. I'm booked for the weekend of the 17th (company is moving to new offices). How about the 24th?
