Post still have high idle!

Just to recap, bought a 944 that had been setting for 6 months to 1 year. Changed everthing needed, plugs, filters, fluids, belts, etc. Took the air filter box off the other night and cleaned the air flow sensor with carb cleaner, took off the rubber boot going to the throttle switch/engine temp switch and cleaned it out good, very, very oilly and nasty. Put it all back together and idles at about 2500 rpm's now. Took everyones advice and changed out the vacuum line with yellow hose technique line (sharpened the underhood up!)and fired it up and still idles at 2500 rpm's. Anyone got anymore ideas of what to check?

Intake manifold gaskets?

If you get some appropriately sized PVC piping, you can stick that in the intake boot, clamp it down and pressure test the intake (10psi at the most).

That will find your vac leaks if you have em...

Others know more about the specific things that control idle...(turbo vs. n/a is quite different I think??)

Does the engine rev up ok or does it die out if you give it some gas ? Intake manifold gasket is a good bet if it is only idling fast but not revving up

Engine seems to rev up O.K. The car runs great except for the idle. Dont think its the intake manifold, it was idleing fine untill taking the rubber boot off and cleaning the ts/ets switches. It only started idleing faster the first time I started it after cleaning it out! I'm going to test the throttle switch tonight but it dosent seem like just cleaning this would make the throttle switch act up. Any more ideas?

O.K. More info. The idle is about right for about the first 3-6 seconds that the car starts. Then the idle goes slowly to 2400 rpm's. I started taking off vacuum lines one at a time and the first vacuum line going into the throttle body does not make the idle go up when you remove it. No vacuum to that line. The line going to it originates underneath the intake manifold in the back. There is a little switch (or something) that two vacuum lines go into. Anyone know what that is, couldnt fine it in the haynes manual. Can I by-pass it? Anyone got any ideas?
