Damian,
I have a '91 S2 cabrio. I am removing my back seat. It is cobalt blue but it is in good shape. You could easily dye it using vinyl dye from Color-Plus. I have used the stuff and it is really easy and much cheaper than recovering.
If you are interested in the trade let me know.

Max, I'm looking for a direct swap-I have a line on a local item, in the correct color. Thanks anyway.

Damian,
Let's try this again. I think we have something here. My Cabriolet has a black interior and is in perfect shape. Correct me if I am wrong, but you only need the lower portion of the seats correct ?
Drop me an email and we can talk.

Damian,

Does your car have the carpet under the seats? I've got a quote of $66 a yard for Feinsteihl(?) carpet. The carpet is 60 inches wide by whatever yardage. It's from World Upholstery, but I am curious if you would want to sell the carpet pieces from that area. When you pull the rear seats there is an area on an S2 that will be exposed. I am trying to avoid cutting up my seats. I picked up the shelf unit from a fellow Rennlister and am trying to figure out the best way to install it.

Craig, that carpet is molded to over the center hump/lower area and has a thick rubber padding that is similar to that on the rear deck mat.In addition the deck when fitted will not go all the way to the top of the rear hatch area. You will have to use carpet or will have sheet metal showing. You can get the carpet from World, but it will be a challenge to get it fit correctly.
I highly recommend using the factory carpet, even if you have to get a salvage yard to send it to you. Just my 2 cents.

Craig, I have the parcel shelf, not the seats. I'm LOOKING for the seats. I won't remove the parcel shelf until I can do the swap.

James,

I've emailed a slew of recyclers and am still waiting to hear back from some of them. I reall don't want to see a strip of guards red in the gap between the parcel shelf and the seat tops. I am not in a big hurry as I have several projects going on at once.

Craig et al.,
I think you guys are confusing the difference between the cabs and the coupes. The cabriolet does not have carpet under its rear seats. However, it does have carpet covering the area between the rear seats and the rear seat backs. The coupes leave an area of bare metal exposed when the seat bottoms are removed. The S2 cabs don't have that problem because any bare spots are covered by the 968 rear shelf once it is installed.

Max,

When I was checking the fit on the shelf, I did look tlike there would be a 3 inch or so gap between the shelf and the upper seat backs. That's why I was debating whether to cut up my rear seats to have that strip if cushion there or pull the whole seat assembly and get the carpet pieces. I am going to bolt the shelf into the old seatbelt points and am trying to decide if I need to rig up some brackets to tie the shelf into the rear bulkhead. Nothing is ever easy (or cheap) with a p-car.
