What sealer does everyone use on the waterpump gasket?
I want to do this only once. Clark from Clark's Garage uses a thin layer of grease on both sides of the gasket, a trick he got from an old Porsche mechanic. Jay Cohen (toolmaster) uses Hylomar (sticky blue stuff, I've never seen it), says he's never had a problem. I've always used a thin layer of RTV on both sides of the gasket on my musclecars with no problems, but my 951 is definitely not the same. What has everyone else used? I searched the old threads and didn't find anything definitive. Thanks in advance.

I normally use grease, but some gaskets are so thin and large you need RTV to hold them in place.
I would be a little careful of using Red RTV (high Temp) on aluminum. It is acidic and will eat into the Aluminum. See note below:
Not for use in delicate electrical and electronic applications in which corrosion of copper, brass, or other sensitive metals is undesirable.
This RTV will work.
Permatex® Water Pump and Thermostat RTV Silicone Gasket
A noncorrosive, sensor-safe RTV silicone gasket material formulated specifically for water pumps and thermostat housings. Highest water-glycol resistance available in an RTV silicone.

I'll have to agree with Perry....use nothing. I have changed the water pump four times (don't ask) and each time I installed it dry. Not one time was there even the hint of moisture.

Thanks! Knowing what doesn't leak is helpful, especially with torque values of 6 foot pounds (which seems barely more than finger tight).
