Hey All,
I got a problem with my `91 Acccord...
4 cyl. 16 valve won't start after 6 months of not running. I needed a new battery first.
checked- dry gas crap, starter fluid in air intake, new spark plugs and dist. wires. Still won't start. Can anyone shed some light on why it wont work? If I'm not detailed enough, just ask...this is my daily driver and i need it
!
Thanks Alot
Mike

Does the starter crank the engine over, does it sputter at all ? Did you stored the car with a full tank of gas and with a gas conditioner to prevent the gas from going bad ?

This may sound like a stupid thing, but my 92 Accord EX had something called a "master relay" up around the steering column, above the brake pedal. It was a large $30 relay that went bad. She'd crank all day but it wouldn't pop. Then, after it sat for a while, cooled off or something, it would fire right up. Annoying, yes.. but easy and cheap to fix.
Good luck!

The relay is a good place to start. Questions
1 Does it have fire. snsert an old spark plug into one of the wires, cut the ground electrode off, and ground it.
Is it getting fuel? The fuel pump could be stuck as well as the injectors. Use a long rod or screwdriver as a stethoscope and listen for clicking while you crank. These can be freed up by boiling in water.

Well, unless you know a way to yank the relay and bench test it, or get the relay out of a running car to swap it, I don't know.
Here is what I like to do. On these cookie-cutter dime-a-dozen cars, call the service manager of the dealership. I've gotten to know the local guy, his name is Joe. He's seen a million early 90's accords come thru his shop, and he knows where the weak spots are. Those cars get broken springs up front (the car just rides 1" lower) stuck shift cables (on the automatics) weak distributor bearings, and finicky master relays. When I said "92 EX, cranks but no fire, he said "master relay". I asked how hard it was to swap, he said "piece of cake". I asked "In stock?" he said "Always!". Case closed. SO, you can tell your sister that Joe, from Whitey's Auto Mall in sunny Mansfield, Ohio says it is the Master Relay.
Good enough?
