1) No songs are on it yet. I'm compiling a large number of songs that would be great to drive to. I've gone through all of my CD's and currently only have less than 200mg of data in MP3 format. As posted previously I'm wanted to get a new stereo for my car with MP3 capabilities. It's kind of a work in progress as far as the songs that I'm wanting to have on the CD

2) The title is taken from the Pink Floyd song "Learning To Fly". Over the past 5-7 years I've become a rather large fan of them. Never liked them before because I thought they were a more of a drug band and I just wasn't into that. Well wether they are or not, I really like them now and listen to them frequently. Catching up on lost time I guess?

3) Yes I had to crunch the image a bit to get it all to fit the way I wanted it to. It's not perfect but it's the best I could do.

4) Funny, I posted this and thought no one replied to it but evidently missed all of your responses as I was off Rennlist for a few days this week.

Glad everybody liked it. I was thinking about coming up with a CD for the '03 944fest and passing them out. What does everybody think of that? Obviously I would have 944/951's on the cover. I already tried to fit a picture from the 944fest '02 with the plane in the back ground but I couldn't get it to work right. The hole in the middle kept cutting out most of the cars!

I'll try it again and try to bend the image. Send me pics if you thing you have a good image for the CD to be used for 944Fest '03.

What do you think Dan?

Cory.. That'll be a great plan! As you know, I'm a big fan of MP3 players in cars, but there are only a few of us. Would you make the 944fest CD a MP3 collection or a normal CD? I suppose you could go either way with it. I've got LOTS of pics from 944fest 01 and 02, I'll browse thru them and see what looks like it would survive a large hole punched in the middle of it. Last year I burnt off a stack of 944 Service manual CD's, but never got around to distributing them. Remind me to ask this year if anyone wants a copy..

Wink

I looked thru the pics, and I really didn't see any that a whopping hole in the middle wouldn't ruin.. Maybe you could collage something, sort like this:
<img src="http://home.earthlink.net/~ninefiveone/944festcd.jpg" alt=" - " />

The quality on that sucked for a couple of reasons, my Avery label software wouldn't save as jpg, so I had to print it, re-scan it in as a JPG, etc.. AND I was hurrying just to give you an idea, not making a quality finished piece. For the manuals I make, I use the close up front shot of the red 944T, the hole blocks the hood ornament and some intakes/license plates, but the rest of the car looks great around the outside.

Let me know if you need fest pics..

Dan,
Send me pics from the Fest that you think are good. I'm not sure about the whole MP3 vs. regular audio CD. Honestly I haven't thought about it. I suppose a combination of both would be a good idea. It's funny that you talk about the Manual on CD. I was thinking about that also. I have the PET CD also?!?! I have access to a fairly high quality color printer, so the labels would turn out a lot nicer than the one I did for this post.

Maybe we could have some kind of contest/door prize/or something like that to hand them out. That way I woun't feel bad when I don't have enough for everybody.

I've been thinking of other cool things to do, but of course it all depends on how much spare time I'll have between now and then.

I'll keep you posted.

Considering the cost of media nowadays (less than $1 per) there really isn't any reason we couldn't burn off enough for everyone. I don't expect 200 cars or anything, it'll probably be 20ish if we're lucky. We've got plenty of time to work on it, especially if it keeps snowing like this!
