Post Warning Shot - need fire extinguisher...

Well, I got a shot across my bow today - was an hour from the house and a wire on the starter harness apparently shorted to the heatshield, causing the starter motor to spin continuously, even with key off...

I had to grab a set of pliers and yank the ground cable on the battery to stop the starter motor, then reach up under the car and move the wire away from the heatshield by hand. I backed one side of the car onto a sidewalk and crawled up under there (in the gutter) to try to tighten the wires and bend them away from the heatshield. Got some nice burns on my chest from the oil pan and crossover pipe in the process...

It is a temporary fix, I'll put this thing on the lift tomorrow and fix it right. I'm keeping tools to yank the battery in the car with me until then!

SO, NOW I'M BUYING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. I can imagine what would of happened had this occurred when I was away from the car.

Perry and others, what do I need to get? From what source?

Also, does anyone have a Brey-Krause of similar seat-rail fire extinguisher mount they want to part with? I think that is the best place for the thing in my car (until the rollbar goes in)...

adrial has the stable energies fire ext mount ~50. this is the one I want.

I also found good deals on halotron clean agent fire extinguishers (env-safe replacement for halon 1211) at:

or

I got my 2.5LB Halon direct from Ansul.

They have been bought out by Pyrochem, and offer Halotron. I have yet to make my mount, but it will be similar to Thaddeus's mount to the seat.

Perhaps he can post that pic of it again.

I've got the Stable engeries mount, and what's better about the Stable energies mount is that it moves with the seat. It's cheaper too.

You can mail order with them.

Just don't mount it upside down like Adrial!
