Post Replace Evaporative Emission Canister

I've done all kind of searches for a replacement unit for the charcoal canister for the fuel emissions, and can't seem to find a thread that answers my question. Is this a dealer only item? Mine is a Purolator, and can't even cross the number to anything. Has anybody replaced one, if so where did you get it and how much $$$

Thanks in advance.....

Yes, OEM only, from the dealer.

Brumos Porsche sold me one for about $50, list was $103. (or what it said on the slip)

Check the line along the firewall while you are in there, and replace if cracked.

I have a new one that was on my car for one summer. You can have it for $30 plus shipping, if interested.

Why would one replace this thing? Seems like lots of people are removing them.

I thought mine was bad because the garage always smelled of gas about 20 min. after I shut the car off. Turned out to be the injectors leaking I guess. I replaced 2 injectors that leaked when tested. Now I don't have the smell. I never saw any kind of leak before. I had them out to clean and replace the o-rings. I did have the canister apart and replaced the charcoal with that out of a GM canister, but didn't help.

I could smell gas from the drivers fender. Not much else it could be in my case.
