Post SFR short shift kit, any positives...

I have heard a lot of negative feedback on the SFR short shift kit lately. Does anyone have any positive things to say about this kit.

I dont use the SFR short shift but i do remember one person complaining that it was just a shortened stock lever so i can atleast say in the defense of SFR if you read their site they do tell you exactly what you are getting

I think the SFR short shift kit is great, but you do have to realize what you're getting. For me, I needed to replace me stock shifter rod as it was very worn(football like). Now the stock shift rod is about $40. If i wanted to keep that and get the Autothority short shift kit, I would have to pay another $200 for that. So $240 total. If I just replaced the shift rod with the SFR one, I'd kill two birds with one stone. $100 for a new shift rod and a short shift kit rolled into one. Of course you do need to account for the fact that you need to buy a new shift ****, but to me this has turned out to be a plus. You could save money and buy an inexpensive **** for around $40 or get a Momo for $80-100. So between $140-200 total. I decided to go with a Momo **** and I love it. I think the updated shift **** really makes the car feel more modern. Originially I didn't think it could get much better than the stock shift ****, but I am amazed at how much I like the new ****.

If you want to keep the stock ****, then this kit is not for you, its as simple as that. If you want a short shift kit you can use with another ****, this kit is perfect. It really depends on what you like.

I agree with Ken. I was in the same situation, and I wanted a Momo **** anyway, so the SFR kit was perfect for me. A lot of people complain about excessive rattle with the kit, but I haven't noticed it at all. The shifting just feels right now, where before the shifter felt way too high. I'm babysitting a friends 86 951 and I notice the difference big time when I drive his.

My only complaint on the SFR kit was the shorness of the portion of the shifter which actually fits in the shift ****, as it is SO short that it would only fit halfway up the shortest aftermarket shifter on the market, which seems like a bit of a waste, and puts the rubber damper at the middle of the **** instead of at the top. Other than that, for what it is, I have no complaints.
