New Product: Billet Oil Filler Cap
#17
I get what your saying, but I ain't cheap. I dare say, I've spared no expense getting my car up to snuff in the last 10 months...including other 'flair' type items. But $75 for an oil cap is well, just crazy...even by my standards.

The cost to manufacture them is high. They are machined to the funky thread Porsche used on the inside, and then a releif is cut into them to house the o-ring. The o-ring is captured in the groove so it does not fall out every time you remove the cap.
Then the outsides are machined and knurled also.
Its an expensive piece to make. Not for everyone. But some guys have spent a good deal of money on the engine bay and to them it matters how it looks with the hood open. To those few, this might appeal to them.

Nice product though.

Personally, I like them and would drop $90 on one.........but......I'm not a big fan of "advertising" on car parts, especially when it's primary function is bling (but actually adds cost to the part) and it has a modle number for another car on it. It's like Camaro scripted valve covers in a Corvette. Would the 928 guys throw a hissy if their intake had 951 across it (even though it would mean their car is faster then a standard 928)? Make them bare and I'll buy one or two.
Nice product though.

We 944 folks are a fickle bunch, but I bet there are some sales to be had at the price point, but as has been said the 928 scripted into the top of it kills it... get rid of the script and I bet they will sell...
I really like the look, idea, and product... save that one thing... it is enough to make me stick with my old yellow cap, or get a new yellow cap... that having been said, I plan on blinging out my engine bay as soon as I get my MAF back together (next week or 2) and have already done some bits here and there... a nice shiney cap would be nice, but would rather have it blank than 928... just personal taste...

It's good value compared to the one made by Jager.
