I think the next challenge is to do it in the 928 S4 Got that up to 145 so far after practically raping a Honda S2000 from the stoplight onto the freeway...muhahaha <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />
Yan, you are the one with the 145 mph stock 944! I remember you! You sold your car to your brother if I recall. She sure is a beautiful NA and unique to

Come on Jon (Ecpunk)....where are you with your "I got up to 250Km on a flat stretch one time" story?
Man I leave the office and he stops surfing the rennlist.
THe fastest I have had my '82 was 225Km/h which is 139.7Mph. THe conversion is (Km/h * .621 = Mph) I am sure the speedo is off a bit. I believe I was at about 5800Rpm's

I did 120 when my 83 944 was bone stock, it handles much better now. My 951 will bounce off the rev limiter at 180MPH.
All high speed testing was done at a top secret dry lake best test site : )
I'd really like to see some before/after dyno runs with the MSD Ign. compared to a stock unit with new wires, plugs, cap and rotor? I bought one for my turbo after the second turbo upgrade. The tuner that I go to told me to sell it.
Just my personal experience : )

Well the best I've done so far in my 85.5 na is @ 120, but it was like ridin' in a baby carriage. They really do speed well. It's not easy to find a long enough straight 'round here to get up much faster in my car, but I did get a '78 911 up to 145 once,,many years ago. At that point I crossed over a bridge expansion joint in a long gentle left hand sweeper,,and bounced halfway into the right lane. I decided that would be about enough of that stuff and dropped down to a completely sane 100. I did have a little encounter with a Vtec Accord the other day though. Passed him just as we were both ramping onto I-71. He saw me, and made it his business to try and take me. I had the hammer lane and was in front, but every time the right lane opened up in front of him he was into it hard. He could never quite get to me before the door closed on him, but his acceleration curve was definately better than mine, at least up to @ 100, when he seemed to start leveling off. I had to wonder if his top end could have matched mine though. I finally took the right lane to get my exit and he went by and gave me the thumbs up. Yeah, yeah yeah I know,,,childish,,,,,so what,it was fun.

Hey, we're still here. We're just working.
I can see that Mike went ahead and chimed in. Since I switched to 215/60's to 225/50's (I know the speedo is way off now, but just to prove a point) the car will hit the rev limiter now. I got close to hitting it before, but it would have taken a much larger hill.
All of you who are afraid to drive your cars around 100mph, at least in my case, they are very stable. I haven't had any bad bounces or feel like I was floating until well above that.
There is a place just south-west of here on autobahn 6 toward Saarbrücken that there is no speed limit. Most of the people cruise up around 100mph or better through there. The road is a little bumpy and goes over some bridges. The car does really well.
I'm serious this time, I will try to make a (safe) video and see what the car can do. I will see if mike is up to taching his car out too. He is an inch and some lower than I am, plus a better engine, suspension and I'm not sure if his tires are equivalent to stock. None the less, I'll publish it on monday or so on my website.
Forgot something. This is off the subject, but if Mike won't be a sissy at the next PCA race and ask for a ride in the 993T then we will see some real speed. There is nothing stock about the 993, i.e. huge turbo as big as my head. When I rode in it, it quickly hit 300kph or 186+mph. We took a turn at about 250kph and hit a little bump, I almost pooped in my pants. The awd in the C4's is the greatest thing ever built.

I've once seen 250km/h on my speedo (~155mph). Fifth gear, 6500rpm and it felt like it'd still go further (the limit is 6800 or 6900 on the S I think).
I was already cruising around 200km/h (~120mph), and then just felt like finding out just how fast the thing could go ... of course, later on I found out that the speedo is WAY off (about 10%), so the actual top speed isn't that high, but it's nice to know that at least the engine has enough steam left (getting old, 225Kkm on the clock) to pull it all the way there
I don't do that much anymore, but if I'm not feeling like wasting too much time on travelling and not paying too much attention to the speedo, it easily gets to around ~110mph without me even realizing it... damn these cars!

I have had my 87 non turbo 944 up to 145 mph. I had some larger wheels on at the time so the gearing was slightly changed. Although with stock 15" wheels on I hit 140 mph. That was all it had.
Those were the only top speed runs I've done. I reguraly hit 120 mph . Even though the car is
15 years old it is still smooth and predictable.

I'm up for that. This week after class sometime. My car will probably explode since we will be on camera. Lets say Wed.??
You guys are going to have proof
