I was at a Drivers Ed Monday and Tuesday and heard someone mention that the O2 sensor on thier 944 was disconnected. The reason being that it would run richer. I didn't notice or think of it at the time wether the car was a dedicated track only car. Would the car run rich if disconnected. My car is an 86 951 that I am considering turning up the boost a little. I put in a 3 bar FPR and I run around 15 psi in 4th gear at WOT. My digital air/fuel gauge says 0.845 volts at WOT. I have been told I should see high 8's or low 9's. I have been thinking about dynoing the car to make sure before I start turning up the boost. Just wondering if the disconnected 02 thing is correct.

Above 3500rpm and at WOT, the DME ignores the signal from the O2 sensor.
Disconnecting the O2 sensor will make the car run very rich below 3500rpm...but will not affect WOT above 3500rpm operation.
I highly recommend getting the car on a dyno. The a/f meter that works off the standard O2 sensor is a toy, or something to let you know when something goes horribly wrong.
