Checking oil - hot or cold?

Ahhh… that’s more like it...
That’s what I was looking for... whether there is anything specific to these cars.
The owner’s manual does not specifically state that… but it is somewhat implied (but left to interpretation a bit too much, IMHO).
I guess I’ll check the oil both ways (cold vs. after 10 minute cool down), and see if there is a noticeable difference.

FWIW..Army manuals on older gas engined vehicles, basically stated to warm the engine up to normal temp, then shut it down. Wait 10 minutes and then read the BACK of the dipstick. The front of the stick can get you close, but the back is really where to look.

Well, here's the spoiler.
The Porsche Owner's Manual (1989 944S2) says:
"To get a true reading the car should be on level ground. After turning off the engine, wait a few minutes for the oil to return to the oil sump."
Sounds like the oil level gets checked with engine hot, or at least after it has been running.
