belts tensioned? 2000 miles after rebuild
I had my engine rebuilt last winter and I currently have non-detergent oil running in the car.(so the seals seat or something like that) I have just crossed 2000 miles and need an oil change and my belts retensioned. I am about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh. Is that the closest place to get my car worked on or could they tension the belts at a lot of places? any oil recomendations?

I would only go to a shop that is familiar with the 944 and or the 928. Ask specifically if they have “The Tool” – the infamous P-9201 tensioning tool that costs about $500 . If they know what your are talking about, then they maybe ok. If they do not know what you are talking about, keep looking.
I can not help you with the oil question, but I would tend to want to run synthetic in a newly rebuilt engine.

thanks I may have to go to pittsburgh. I got my car inspected at a local place and the guy said he never inspected a "porch" before. I told him everything worked and he passed me without really checking anything. (I didnt think he would care about the AC not working )

You had your engine rebuilt too? I share your pain $$$! Yeah, it's pretty important to get that oil out of there b/c there will be lots of impurities and byproducts of the rebuild process that will be present.
Right after my 2000 mile oil change, I switched right to Castrol Syntech. These engines are supposed to use a bit of oil, but mine doesn't burn or leak a drop between changes even with a slippery oil like synthetic.
