Lightbulb Permanent Integrated Battery Charger

For those who are tired of flat batteries, friggin around with battery chargers and not being able to just get in and turn the key.... help is at hand. Check out my write up on permanently integrating an Intelligent Float Charger into your 944/951.
This doesn't mean you shouldn't hunt down those battery draining gremlins - it just takes the pressure off.
This also solves long term storage issues with batteries.
Please don't try this with any other brand or type of charger, as I cannot guarantee the results. This solution was carefully researched before execution and carefully monitored afterward to verify the manufacturers claims.
Just remember - you pay for what you get and you get what you pay for.

Thanks, that's better! Nice installation. The only thing I would do differently is mount the body socket facing down next to the license plate light so it doesn't show. I'm sure there's a similar mounting spot for us that drive on the 'correct' side of the road and have front mounted batteries.

I like the high quality work you did. Congrats.
I too wanted a fix for the slow drain issue(s) on my car. My house has solar panels, so I wanted a solution that wouldn't suck from my wall sockets. I found 5 W weatherized solar panels on ebay for ~$40 (US) and built in my own blocking diode and cable interface. No intelligent (feedback) circuit was needed at this small wattage. In fact, I was worried 5 W wouldn't cut it - but it has thus far (eight months of varied conditions). The car starts up on the first crank with no indication of weak current flow. The weatherized panel sits outside the garage in a discrete spot and the cable runs up through the garage door trim and along the ceiling, dropping at the car. Not too ghetto, and it works perfectly for < $50 and 1 hour of labor.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread. I love what you did and wanted folks to have another solution to consider, too!

nah, the spot by the license plate light is where the rear emitter for my laser jammer is located - essential equipment if you want to clock 250km/h on the highway and get away with it!
Stealth rulez!
I considered the solar panel option but my baby lives in a locked garage.
