Default MOOKEEH MK1 Camber Plates

I just picked up a used set of MOOKEEH MK1 camber plates and it seems the bearing are seized, has anyone experienced this? aren't the bearings supposed to move freely as the wheels turn?

I have them. You do lose a bit of travel with them, but they certainly do not 'suck'. For the price, they are fine. Ground Control are nicer, a bit better finished, no loss of travel. But for track car the Mookeh are fine.

Mine worked fine for about a year, but now the bearings seem stuck. When I turn the wheel, the springs seem to spin on the hats, making a "poink-poink" sound. (This are Bilstein coilovers.) The Ebay vendor said he would replace them if I paid shipping. I just did that last week. I'll let you know if he comes through. He was very responsive to installation questions, so I am hoping for the best.

Definitely a weak area.

I have them on my car and just spray some WD-40 on the bearings once a week and they work fine.

Guys, thanks for all your responses. Mine are not completely seized but the ball is very hard to turn. I tried WD40 and they freed up a little. For those who have them, how freely does the ball turn? is is normally quite tight?

GREASE them before you put them in the car - water gets in there, the ball rusts, and then its siezed. That or dirt gets in. You can keep spraying them every week with oil, or get it good and greased up.

Mine worked fine for about 25 hours too!

I did the grease thing (used a stlcky marine lube), but it didn't work for long. I actually want to see if I can free them up, but until the weather cools down a bit, I'm not likely to sacrifice the sweat! My next track days are mid-October. I have a few projects to tackle before then.

Well,
I can say that I have run them.

I have the flat ground control units. I put these on the car in 2002. Since then I have never lubed them or even thought about it. I have some 100+ races on them and never any issues.

I bought a set that were seized before I even installed them on my car. I lubed them up good before installation, drove around on them for about a week hoping they would un-seize, but they remained rock solid frozen stiff.

I ended up returning them. Cheap junk IMHO.
