Started it up after nine months. Lifter noise....
Anyone know how long it takes the lifters to free up after sitting with no oil for 9 months?
Started my car up after long nine months of work. I did rod bearings, crank scraper, and replaced pretty much every steering, vacuum line, etc.
I have good 5 bar of pressure. However theres lifter noise. Ive only run the car about 5-10 minutes, and its getting quiter. I shut it off for the night as it's too late for suburbia.

They might be frozen.... as in, they won't pump back up. What weight oil are you using?
Run it for a while tomorrow and see if the noise goes away. If not, you might need to use some marvel mystery oil, ATF, or the "cleaner" of your choice.
My car sat for 6mo (Thats what the PO said before I bought it anyway). It took 20min for my lifters to come back to life, but they did.

Definitely can take a while. One thing you can do is run it until your fans kick on and the engine is up to temp. At that point they should have quieted down AND your pressure shouldn't be pegged at 5 bar.
For reference, my S2 with Brad Penn 20w-50 dropped to 3 bar at idle in 105+ temps last week once it was warmed up. I normally see around 4+ bar at idle in "normal" temps (I'm in Oregon, your mileage in Texax may vary).
If you're pegged at 5 bar constantly then you may have the wires switched on the pressure sender.

I'm running 20W/50 Valvoline VR1 oil. I have another 7 quarts of oil, but no filter. So hopefully they'll free up without ATF. I'll have another couple filters sent on the way.
Thanks for the heads up. Part of me knew that it just needed to run, it's just scary listening to all the clatter.
