Post 944 turbo and n/a AFM's same?

The part numbers are the same except that the turbo meter is 951.x.x.x and the 944 meter is 944.x.x.x...

Physically they look similar (based on pictures, dont have them in hand).

Thanks,
Adrial

P.S.
If not, anybody have a good used one they could sell me??

They are not the same... in the part # business, all it takes in one number, letter, or red hair to make parts completely different and useless in most cases.

As a point of reference, Bosch rebuilt runs just under $400.

Good Luck!

Yeah, the "restrictor" size is quite different; the turbo's engine is going to pump more air.

Thanks

So, I guess I'm looking for a used unit...unless its possible to swap the circuitry from an n/a AFM to a turbo AFM, as thats all thats wrong with mine?? I'm leaning towards this not being possible...so if anybody has a good working used AFM for sale, PM or email me...

TIA,
Adrial

Adrial:
The AFM of a 944S2 is the same as a 951. It's just installed upside down!

But sorry, I don't have a spare AFM...

Have you considered installing a MAF instead? More air = more power!

you could rig up a turbo AFM and get some custom burned chips or one of those piggybacks by split second to fix your air fuel ratios. you probibly just want to go with replacening it with the normal N/A one the turbo AFM is a lot bigger. you could get a cheap turbo AFM from somebody upgraded to MAF or MAP. (like me)

There must be a way to order and replace the carbon strip in the AFM. It's a silly poorly designed potentiometer. These things die at 60-80k miles?? <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" /> So if anyone has one laying around that works let us know, right now the car is sitting.
