Re-sleeving DME wiring harness
Has anyone replaced the sleeving/insulation on their DME wiring harness before?
I purchased a replacement DME harness on ebay (original burned up in an engine fire) but the seller's "excellent condition" description was not entirely truthful. The wiring harness itself is usable, but the insulation over the wires is cracked and worn out. I purchased some heat sleeving to replace the original, but now that I'm looking at the harness and the sleeving next to each other, I'm wondering WTF was I thinking. I've got a Lindsey injector harness and their reference sensor harness and the replacement sleeving I purchased is from the same manufacturer. Am I stuck like Chuck or does this sound like a project that a home mechanic can complete? Short of removing every electrical connector, starting at the end and working my way to the DME/KLR sets, I can't think of how to complete this. Opinions and experience would be GREATLY appreciated!!
