I have different speaker grilles than all of you...mine have a metal grating and are rectangular (factory). I will take pictures when I can....I fit Infinity Kappa's in the front. Sounds great.

This is about a year old, but I don't think all that much has changed...This problem has been hashed many times.

Great idea wiring the sub gain to the fader. If you do it, please take pics and what not...

specs:
5/16" mounting height (I *think* this is the thickness of the "plate")
1 5/8" mounting depth (according to box, crutchfield says 1 13/16" though)
90db sensitivity
75Hz-21kHz frequency responce
2-60w RMS watts
180w peak watts
You don't get much bass out of these, but they do go LOUD (without distortion) and at any volume are crystal clear. Great for highs & midrange when used with some larger speakers in the rear. Unfortunatly your 85.5 only has 4x6" openings in the rear (87+ has 6.5" or 4x6"), but you could put some small subs in the rear for bass if need be (8" or 10").

I tried the Infinity Kappa plate speakers, and the do work. I had to use a hammer to tap the sides in to make the hole a little bigger. They do fit but they do stick out like in the above pictures. The grill does screw in over the plates but they do stick out. I was not happy with how much the stuck out and they did rattle because they were so tight against the covers. I then put Infinity Kappa Separates 4". I used a piece of black abs from an audio install shop and cut out the 4" hole for the driver and shaped it to the size of the 4x6 hole and drilled the 4 mounting holes. This mounted the driver flush with the stock cover on and no rubbing or rattling. I slid the crossover in the bottom of the inside of the door, and mounted the tweeter flush in the door panel at the top above the window switch, like on the 968's. It looks very stock and sounds incredible. You cannot get more accurate sound than from separates. They do not have a ton of base, but they are only 4" drivers so I did not expect that. They do however have a lot more bass than I did expect. I have the separates in the front and Infinity Kappa Plates in the rear. It sounds great together. I will in the near future put an 8" sub in one of the rear compartments with it's own amp to give me a little more bass response, but it is not a pressing issue since it sounds good as it is right now. Hope this helps
