Electrical: oil pressure warning light, but gauge reads normal (86 NA)
Lately after driving for longer periods of time (say an hour), or after warmup and then some serious driving (Autobahn) I'll get an oil pressure warning. The light comes on, the "!" light comes on, but the gauge reads 4-5 bars, normal pressure.
I know the gauge is good because if not, I'd have trashed my engine 10 times over by now. So I've started looking into electrical stuff. Problem is I have no references. It seems to be some intermittent short circuit so it's not even easy to figure it out while in the garage (since it only comes on after driving).
I pulled the gauge cluster and found which contacts go to the pressure gauge, looking at the rear of the cluster it's the lower left plug, pins 8-10 from the left. Pin 8 is the ground coming from the gauge and the other 2 lead to the light and the gauge respectively. I'm trying to decipher the wiring diagrams too to figure out which wires should be hot and when but so far little luck.
Anybody recognize the problem and/or have any ideas?
