Post Radio antenna

Do these cars have an amplified antenna? I just installed a Kenwood CD and my AM reception is basically nonexistant. There is a black wire coming off of the antenna wire that goes into a plug that turns into 2 red wires-wondering about that.

When I got the car it had the Blau cassette in it and AM worked great, someone gave me a Pioneer that turned out to have a bad AM tuner So no AM at all, so now I put in the Kenwood and barely get 1 station that easily has a 100 mile range. I also noticed on my last road trip that FM range wasn't what it should be. Just curious before I call Crutchfield.

FYI

Yes it does, called Crutchfield tech. support, these people really know their $hit. This guy was telling me that depending on whether the ogriginal radio was factory installed or dealer installed there are 3 possible scenarios on how it was wired. I got lucky and it was the first one we tried.

The black wire around the antenna connection is pwr for the antenna booster. Connect it to a ign/radio switched 12V source.
