Well, I've managed to get myself into a bit of trouble. I had a non-functioning cruise control, so after searching the rennlist and 968.net archives, I decided to resolder all of the joints on the cruise control board. That went OK, but didn't fix the problem. So, I decided to go after the drive. I openned it up and tested the solenoid, the motor, and the pot, both from the board and through the connector, and they all seemed OK. My problem now is that I'm having trouble getting it back together.
I can't figure out how to position the torsion spring. The only way that seems to work at all results in very little spring force, and the spring can slip off of the tab it acts on fairly easily. I wonder if I lost a part when I disassembled it. I only have 4 parts in that sub-assembly...the plastic gear, the spring, the axle, and a metal bushing that goes inside the spring.
I know its a long shot, but has anyone out there taken apart their unit? If so, can you guide me through how this part goes together?
Thanks a bunch,
Tom
