Has anybody had any experience with American Stitches or suggestions of other places? I'm wondering cost as well. Or should I look a a momo instead?
Sincerely,

For some reason, I thought Matt Olde had his steering wheel recovered - I'd like to hear his opinions on this as well
Personally, I would stay with Porsche steering wheels... maybe look into the Club Sport wheel people are always talking about on here?

At the time, I was on a strict budget. I went with (
) Perf. Products wheel recovering kit. DO NOT GO THIS ROUTE!!! It led to painful fingers, and is now (after about 3 years) is coming off. Go with an update wheel if you can like everyone is talking about. I will do that next time. There's my 10 cents (cause my 2 cents is free). Sorry about the line from the song, I've been up 'till 3:00 all weekend putting my new engine in my car...just a little out of it.

I used AGLA to recover my wheel, because the cost was less than a 930S, and I like the stock appearance. The re-cover is very supple, but it took forever(about a month) and when I finally got the wheel back, I had to send it back to them because some of the stitches had big loops in them(I could fit my pinky in them). They did provide a loaner wheel, but I was without a horn during the whole time(about six weeks) It has been about 8 months or so and about three stitches are loose, not very loose, but looser than I would expect. If I had to do it over again, I would upgrade to the 930S wheel.

Thanks people,
I may go the route of finding a kit and getting a pro to put it on. Do the kits have the holes for threads already or are you makin' them as you sew.
Why couldn't a person (even a local shop) use the old piece as a template and make your own, or would that be to much of a hack job.

I purchased a wheelskin from PP and stitched it on myself. I threw their thread away, went to a local leather store and purchased burgundy seat belt thread, the same color as my car.
I sewed in on with two needles in a baseball stitch (XXXXX pattern). It took about 16 hours total, I would have been done a lot sooner if I had used bigger needles. After 12 hours into sewing and 1/3 the way done, I found that the needles I was using were too small. I replaced them with big needles and flew through the rest of the wheel. It's been about 4 years and the wheel still looks great!
