Post Makeshift Cabin Air Filter?

Just got a new car, an '86 944. I was so happy when I thought my car had a cabin air filter, just like 'modern' cars. I looked in the air intake for the cabin under the hood, but to my dismay it was actually just that dryer sheets had been attached underneath the grills that clip on and not a cabin air filter at all . Has anyone heard/done this before? It sure beats my '83 944 which I would always get little things blown into my eyes while driving, but I was wondering if anybody had actually retrofitted a real cabin air filter or done dryer sheets like this other person?

The 968 have a modified version of the box in the engine bay that has two cabin filters built into the plastic housing. I was looking at one and it should be a direct swap over to the late model 944's. You just have to pay to buy one since its a factory part, and I belt the filters are probably somewhat expensive.

Part 1a is the updated 968 version with the filters (the filters are part 17). The housing is only $40, but each filter costs $40 and there are two of them, at least if you buy from them.

Thanks for the responses guys! I'll probably order the KLA Industries filter because it's washable, maybe i'll even order their strut tower brace. On an unrelated note... does the strut brace realistically help with handling, or is it just assumed because the front of the 944 can flex when jacked up?

It actually does improve handling. Once you install it you can definitely tell that the front end is more solid and the handling responses are definitely crisper.

KLA is really a good brand. Anyway, I found here a DIY on cabin air filter replacement. Perhaps, that would also help you.
