Post Rennlist Site Changes/Upgrades

Greetings….

Since this is the first ADMIN note in quite sometime, I’ll try to keep this short and sweet – so as not to bore you….

SITE UPGRADE: please be aware that beginning on February 18th, Rennlist will be upgrading my connections to the Internet. In effect, I hope to at least double our bandwidth capacity during that installation;

MAINTENANCE: You may have noticed over the past two weeks, portions of the Rennlist site and specific servers have been intermittently off-line. During those times, I have upgraded our internal network and changed over to an entirely switched network, and replaced many of the older servers/systems. Please expect this to continue throughout the next two weeks while our main circuits are being upgraded/installed;

RENNLIST.COM E-MAIL ACCOUNTS: If you are a current Rennlist Member with a membership card and have requested an e-mail account in the “rennlist.com” domain, I have just completed the upgrade to that server. If I have not set you up yet, please resubmit your request here: <a href="https://rennlist.com/index/mail.htm" target="_blank">https://rennlist.com/index/mail.htm</a> and I’ll get your account squared away ASAP. As well, to decrease SPAM to these accounts, I am doing RBL lookups – so if you try sending me (or any user at “rennlist.com” e-mail address) from a server that is “Blacklisted” as an open-relay, we will NOT get your e-mail.

FORUMS: The Rennlist Forums (http://forums.rennlist.com) are extremely active throughout the day and evening hours. Please be aware that during the site & network upgrade, I will be re-coding all the Forums. I will post specifics to the individual Forums later this week on what to expect for features, changes, additions and modifications;

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Within the next several weeks, you will notice some changes and additions to the Rennlist Site – some of them are planned to be quite unique and frankly, some are long overdue. For example – the 911 SC Registry, a Cayenne area specifically, an announcement of a strategic alliance for non-Porsche parts for all major brands of vehicles and development of the RennParts sites which will also include Member Specials, weekly specials and “blow-out” sales. I will announce these, and other areas, as they become available;

HERSHEY SWAPMEET: Yes, Jen and I are planning on attending. We will be announcing any Rennlist Activities in the next week or so – so please stay tuned! Frankly – we simply haven’t had time to finish up the plans nor the planning of the functions, given the workload outlined above in addition to our paying jobs… <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Best to all!

John and Jen,

At a PCA meeting this week the members at my table were all raving about the value of Rennlist.
I stumbled across you two years ago. It would be hard to calculate the money it has saved me and the entertainment it has provided. Thanks so much for all of your hard work.

John and Jen, as always thanks and keep up the great work. We all appreciate what you do, as you know. Can't say that enough.

To have a place called Rennlist to come and share stories and experiences and lessons learned with our Porsches (and life!) is just awesome. I can't imagine not having Rennlist. John as you know I had the pleasure of meeting you at VIR, but I feel like I've met all the folks on this board. Whether it be a heated political/social discussion in the OT forum (which I'm staying out of for a while) or getting the latest update on the many folks rebuilding their p-cars (Brian, David, etc.) or seeing the latest "ebayer of the day" post, or tapping Skip's plethera of tech info, Rennlist is just the greatest. I suppose someone would have made a Porsche enthusiasts' website had Rennlist not been your brain child, but no way it would ever be what Rennlist is.

With that said, I still have the $10 check from Cafepress sitting here which I'm going to get to you via PayPal this evening (from the Got Rennlist stuff that sold).

Anyway, just wanted to post that for the following reason. No doubt there are new folks to this board who are experiencing the slow forums or the upgrades and not realizing the previous 5 or so years that are behind Rennlist. To those people: just hang on for the ride because it will no doubt be worth it.

Look forward to the new changes. If you need any help on the e-commerce side of Rennlist, just let me know. That's my "area" of expertise (if you want to call it that).

Take care Jen and John! Hope to see you some time in the future!

-Matt Olde

EDIT
By the way, I made this up for John a few months back to put on P-CarOnline.com. If you want to link to Rennlist and would like a banner to use, feel free!

John, is Matt's banner the one we should use for sponsor link-backs to the Rennlist site? If so, would you like to serve it permanently so that changes could be made to waterfall?
