Question Short Shifter kit from Paragon

Hi. I am looking this thing over, I was wondering if any of y'all had experience with putting these in. Difficult? Easy? They have a warning there about wrecking your tranny if you do it wrong...

How long did it take? Any bad 'gotcha's'?

TIA

Take a look at my earlier post...i beleive last weekend regarding "short shift kit install". Most folks have absolutely no problem, however my pennsylvania car had rusted the little shift thingy in place and it was a bear to break free. I finally did it, but I think my situation was not normal.

Say, I read through the thread and remember it now. How long do you think the whole job would've taken if you hadn't had those parts freeze up on you?

Clever resolution, by the way..

Thanks

Its me TLMikey(this is my work ID, password for the other is at home). If it wasn't for that I probably could have finished the job in about 1-1.5 hours at most. Its not hard at all. The only thing that takes a little while is getting your hands and the wrench or sockets in the small space. I highly recommmend it, I was really happy with the performance of mine. Another thing you might look at is the shifter ****/stalk itself. The metal bushing that controls the shifter arm was worn pretty badly on mine which created some slop. A quick trip to the salvage yard created a cheap fix.

I ordered it this morning. Now, I just have to wait...

I was thinking seriously about the aluminum billet shifter stalk that David Harrington fabricated but I want to use the stock ****.

Updates as appropriate...

Thad,

I know this is digging up old posts but how did this end up? Are you happy with it? I'd like to go with SFR's SSkit but I too would like to use the stock ****. I don't know, just dreaming right now but I was curious how this ended up.

i'll probably get flamed for this, but i have a cheaper solution that worked great for me.

i have a momo **** and boot, so i have to use the spacer to get the thing to fit on the rectangular linkage. i took the adapter and **** of and put the adapter as far down on the shifter as possible. (where it kinks) raised **** about an eighth to qaurter of an inch, and marked with grease pencil. walk over to my friends handy metal cutting shop saw and, viola. i think its one of the best mods i have made to my car, no joke. it looks bitchin' to. now i can rest my arm on the center console and put my hand on the ****. not that i would though since i always have both hands on the wheel.

pretty easy, it took me about half an hour.

also, if you look at the speedforce website, their shortshift lit is a factory that's been cut and "modified" some other way.

peace guys.

It hasn't been installed yet! The parts are sitting in their box, wrapped in cellophane.

Other things came up... I keep forgetting... I'm cold and frightened... <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

A year later?!? Wow someone who procrastinates ALMOST as much as I do. If you want, you can send it my way and I'll install it and let you know how it turned out. I'll even provide pictures.
