THE BEST 944 Modification. Period.
Well I have had my 1988 Turbo S for just over 4 months now and just today installed the best mod ever...
Can you see it?

In case you can't quite see from the crappy pics...

I FINALLY GOT THE CAR CERITIFED AND REGISTERED WITH A TEMPORARY TAG!!!! w00T w00T!!!!
So after sitting wrecked for 7 1/2 years this Turbo S is now officially back on the road! It even passed emissions here in Georgia, although the gas cap failed and I had to get a new one.
Got an appointment set up on Thursday at Rylands Specialized on Thursday to get the timing belt and water pump taken care of, although it runs freaking great, at least below 4K RPM's cause I am scared to rev it higher then that with the old belt still on it!
But to say the least after 4 months of sitting in my garage I was finally able to put a few road miles on it today, like 10 or so but man what a sweet ride! This is not my first Porsche, I had a 99 Carrera 4 previously but this is my first time ever driving a 951, or even riding in one for that matter
Anyway just wanted to share and thank everyone who has helped with my questions etc. and am looking forward to finally meeting some of you 944 guys in the Atlanta area!

Thanks everyone!
I actually have not even treated the interior yet, only given it a good cleaning with Meguiars! I have to thank the previous owner for taking really good care of it and storing it properly for the last 7 years. I am going to give the interior a good treatment although i can't remember what it is called at the moment but will get back to you and post pics when I do.
I had not seen that but definitely like it! Now I have a new project, thanks!
Very possible, this car definitely has the original interior but you will need to confirm with someone who has had both as this is my first
It was wrecked up front, the previous owners stepson lost control on a curvy road in the rain and went over a curb and into some bushes. Most of the damage was mechanical, the only body damage was really the front bumper which was cracked pretty badly in a few areas on the cover itself and several of the crossbars that make up the grill and the lower portion was really bad as it apparently impacted the curb. Took off the batwing and lower engine covers completely and broke the fender wells, fog lights were busted - Turn signal lenses were cracked but are still on the car. I repaired the bumper with locktite eplastic epoxy and repainted it with the help of a friend with some color match paint and bada-bing, looks like new! Here are pics of the restoration of the bumper - feel free to browse the other picture set and their is pics of when I picked up the car in there as well - http://www.flickr.com/photos/7643884@N03/sets/
Mechanical damage was the kicker as the kid definitely ran it all the way over about a 6-8 inch curb. As I mentioned the batwing and lower engine covers were ripped off (I never got them, still on side of road i guess), but the radiator and AC condenser were smashed up pretty good as well as the fan shroud anthough the fans are fine. The 2 sheetmetal supports that the radiator fits into were bent backwards so I had to cut them off and re-weld them which was probably the biggest part of the damage, everything else was just replacing parts...
Luckily the engine covers did their job and the oil pan got just a slight nick in the front of it but no damage. The transmission oil cooler was another casualty and was seemingly cut in half on the curb and the bung it connects to was broken off the tranny but luckily the tranny was still A-OK and got away with just replacing the bung and not the whole tranny. Spare tire well also took a hit and was dented but easy fix with a hammer and the drivers side rear wheel suffered some pretty bad curb rash on the inside of the wheel.
I think that covers it... I started writing up the story which is currently over 2 pages long and don't know if you all want to read it all but since it's about to be on the road I may as well finish it and post it for all to read, or ignore
Otherwise I did all the mechanical things any car of its age needs, especially since it had been sitting so long. Fluids, plugs, wires, etc. and it is going in tomorrow for a timing belt and water pump, then it will be ready to drive!
Still a few other odds and ends to button up... for instance the sunroof seems to have been broken before the accident, but sounds like the sunroof motor is turning whenever the car is moving. I dunno. Anyone else have this happen?

Should be today... 2 hours til they close and I haven't heard from them yet. Hopefully today...
Very cool - thanks. I don't believe that is listed on the window sticker which is currently is the car so I can't check. I guess I need to contact Porsche and see if they can send me the original build sheet etc...
