Ive been playing for 6 years now and have an alvarez acoustic that I love jamming things like Dave Matthews Band with. I originally started with a Fender American standard strat and played alot of Hendrix/Vaughn to train my ear. Now I'm alot more in to harder music like Deftones, and I REALLY REALLY want a Schecter C-1 classic (diamond series)...they are beautiful in every way...and affordable (around 600 used)

I'm trying to cut a CD right now... a basement CD...
Recording onto a Foster MR-8 digital recorder, then cut the resulting stereo WAV to CD format. I've had a cold, so my voice is crap... recording postponed!
I play a National tricone in open G, Cort metal resonator in standard tuning, a Guild Savoy archtop for jazzier stuff (a new departure for me), and a Sigma 12 string that I modified to have a metal cone resonator.
I rarely feel cooler than when I'm loading my musical gear into the Porsche...

Lets see if this works...
<a href="http://members.rennlist.com/sh944/moped-desade.mp3" target="_blank">DeSade</a>
Feel free to give me feedback on this, its a demo (um, copyrighted and registered, by the way...). Maybe it makes the next cd, maybe not... you folks can decide for me. I will recut it if I do keep it, with a real drum track and someone other than me singing...
I hope you have a fast connection, as its 3 megs... I will play with this a bit and see if I can find a better way to post these.
Regards,

My background was a professional musician from around 17-3?. We toured the world and else where : ) I have played 30,000 seaters as opening acts for major bands in the eighties only to go back to playing some dive with some toothless wonder screamin out "play Cocaine". Then there were the major deals that just didn't quite get done for what-ever the reason along with various studio crap.
Yes, I am a bitter little man!!!
I've had to many guitars to list. I used to run a set-up similar to Eric Johnson. But to me nothing beats the sound of a tweed twin or 50 watt Marshall cranked up "Pure". I had all the electronic crap but I went full circle before the end.
I still have a vintage original Rivera tube amp with about 18 tubes in it. Rivera is the one who originally mod'd the Fenders for Santana that later became Mesa/Boogie Amps if I remember correctly.
I still have a Fender Custom shop acstc/elec made from bueatiful Brazilian Rosewood and a custom neckthru Charvel.
I thought about doing a lounge act called "Biff Kool Breeze and The Groove Kings" but NAH!! My still rockin friends would laugh their asses off!

I wonder if we crossed paths, Paul... My touring years were from 82-87, a mix of national and regional tours, broken promises and dreams, and very little sleep. Wouldn't trade the memories for the world, tho. We spent a lot of time on the road working with Mercury/Roadrunner touring acts... plus the alt-country/cowpunk circuit on a regular basis. I also spent more than one night facedown behind the Rainbow... lol Oh, to be cool again.
Main touring band was Moped. Biggest show was probably Dallas TX, 20,000 people attended, when we had an opening slot at a weekend festival, long before such gigs got as popular as they are now. Probably 50 people might have been paying attention to us. Biggest name act we opened for was REM, not long after they signed there first major deal. We were friends with Jason and the Scorchers and they got us the opening slot for the tour. Not many people attended those shows, much to the chagrin of the promoters and REM... lol

Hmmm. Let's see:
- '72 Fender Tele Custom - classic Keith Richards black, favorite electric ever, out of the 3 dozen or so I've owned.
- Danelectro Hodad 12-string; sounds like angels and cost $160 new.
- Ancient, battered Jazzmaster w/ '70s Bill Lawrence humbuckers and several other horrible mods that seemed really cool in the late '80s.
- Laughably beat-up Taylor 510. Sounds and plays incredibly well.
Amps:
- Marshall Bluesbreaker Reissue; I love it, my neighbors don't.
- Vox Pathfinder; cost $110, amazing cheap little solid state amp that'll drive a 4x12" cab thru the roof.

Hey 944Pete!
Is that a straight cab, or the angled one? If its straight and loaded with the Celestions, lets talk. One of mine took a pretty hard dive of the back of the truck and I never bothered to replace it. My "1 1/2 Stack" looks a little silly, tho, and I wouldn't mind making it an even number again.
Anyone else gonna download any songs? So far we have Jason, Targa and myself...

Thanks for the concern, but DeSade has already been received by the copyright office, so I am safe to post. Question for you, tho... since the copyright is inherent at the time the song is written or created, wouldn't posting it on a web site be able to be used as proof of the copyright? After all, its got a date and time on it, if someone wanted to steal that song and claim they wrote it, wouldn't they have to prove that they had it earlier than the time of the posting? I realize its no substitute for filing Form SR with the copyright office, but still...
By the way, for any of y'all who actually do this stuff, please make sure you use Form SR and not Form PA, and put "All music and sound recording" in the Nature of Authorship line. That protects all versions of the song, as opposed to Form PA which would only protect the composition, not the recording. There is an important difference there, one I learned the hard way, many years ago.
