Post Neoprene Hose HELP!!!!!!!

Okay - as many of you know, I ripped a hose when doing the IceShark headlight install. WELL WELL WELL, the hose is....THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ****ING DOLLARS

Yup, 350 dollars for a six inch hose.

350 big ones
350 smackers
that's 3 Jeffersons and a Grant
That's a big portion of a paycheck
that's the entire cost of the IceShark headlight kit
That's a new set of chips
that's three times the cost of my new hatch
it's...****, this is getting old...onto the problem.

I contacted my usual parts supplier (Pelican Parts) who clued me into the 350 dollar price tag. They said the hose is a Neoprene (sp?) hose and that it is crimped into location. Well, the hose I took off is/was not crimped, but rather hose clamps were on it. I'm attaching a picture of the hose, along with the parts diagram that Pelican e-mailed me (those guys are great by the way!). I'd REALLY like some help in getting a hose that's just a WEEE bit cheaper. The inner diameter of this hose is 3/4".

TIA (BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE)...

BTW - People had told me to go to my FLAPS (Friendly Local Auto Parts Store) and have them get it from their stock...well, NONE of the FLAPS around here have it (I live in a ****TY area for parts).

I think they might have meant to say "molded" instead of crimped, meaning that its made with the bend in it so that it won't pinch closed. I think you could replace with a section of stock neoprene (oil proof) hose, but it would have to be substantially longer to allow for that bend without kinking. I think I'd try a lot of alternatives before I shelled out $350.00

I have a cut/drop section of ss braid that might work. I dont know if will make the bend though. I can send you the section for whatever it costs to ship it if you like. It's 7" long and the correct ID. Let me know if you want it and I can ship it monday.

edit: its fuel grade so it should hold up.

That looks like a replacement hose you've got there. I had all my hoses out a few months ago and I think the one you highlighted in the PET drawing has a much more distinctive shape if I remember correctly.

Check with Ian at 944online.com. He has some complete hose kits that seemed reasonable, but I don't know if that particular hose is included.

Something else to try... go back to your FLAPS with the hose, and ask them if you can go back and look at their stock. You should be able to find some hose with a similar diameter and bend somewhere along its length, and you could be back in business for a few bucks.

sflraver - Yah, I'd like for you to go ahead and ship that. Even if I only use it as a temporary measure, I'm having troubles sourcing ANYTHING I need around here.

God willing - the snow will melt soon and my replacement lense from IceShark will come and I know I will HAVE to be back out on the road.

I'll P.M. you my address, and we'll see if we can't work out how you want me to pay. Thanks for the other tips guys, and I also got a few e-mails, mainly suggesting using Neoprene hose with brass elbow pieces to make my own...but like I said I'm having problems with just the hose!

Thanks
