Cool A Few Words on Speedhut's Gauges-

Since most of your cars use the same gauge cluster as my '85 928S2 5 speed, I'll post here and let you know about my experiences.

I ordered Speedhut's red indiglo gauge package. First of all, the kit was very good quality, and looks like it will last the life of the car. The instructions were straight from the copy machine, and didn't give enough information about how to power the system [I simply attached the power leads to a dash light fixture sans bulb]. The whole installation took a few hours, most of which was wrestling with the 928's instrument pod in order to get at the gauge cluster. I have no idea at all how the 924/944/968 dash works...you do the math on this part!

Well, I think you should be aware that Speedhut's website is well done, but a little misleading when it comes to the red gauges. Since my car is black, the interior is champagne, and the seats are black...I thought the Porsche colors could be maintained with a red 5 point harness [which I'm selling; more on that later~] and red gauges. Speedhut's website makes them look quite a bit more red than the actual guages, which arrived "brick red", not to my liking. And they flat out lied about the color at night- The website shows them reddish-pink at night...they are actually a champagne color that kinda matches my interior. And the gauge cutouts do not fit the indiglo glow disks properly- so the cutouts around the pointer holes and odometer have blue-green edges. But what is worse is that the faces themselves have several layers and the top anti-glare layer is starting to peel, leaving a visible air pocket.

AS TO Speedhut's gauge bezels...these are a bit cheesy overall. They look ok...but not what I expected. And they are attached with double sided tape that you have to trim to size with a razor blade....Un-cool!

Well, here are some pix. The blue-green look indiglo would probably look kewl, but I can't recommend the red faces, and I've since ordered the reverse panels.

My advice: Think twice-

Normy!

Did the white paint (that is what that is?) on the needles have enough impact on their weight to change the gauge accuracy?
