Post passenger side window

my window does not seem to go up. it will go down. i thought it might be my motor. so i borrowed the one out of my brothers 951 to see if that was the problem. no his did the same thing. well i continued fussing around with it and all of a sudden i could get it up from the drivers side button. but once i got it up i put it down a little and it wouldnt go back up. so i am led to believe it is electrical problems but where do you think my problem is? my fusses are all good. and why would it work for just a little bit and then never again?

Sounds like a bad ground. Might've gotten corroded or something some how, or the wire got loose. The next time you go over a bumpy road, try it then...Do you know where the motor/switch is? You might try removing the ground and scrubbing the area with a wire brush to make sure there's good metal-metal contact...I'm not sure how the window motors work.

Thumbs up

I had the exact same problem on my car about a month ago. I posted to the board and got an answer to my problem. DIRTY CONTACTS ON THE SWITCH!!!! Take the switch off of the door, take it apart and clean the metal contacts. (I used my girlfriends nail polish remover--not sure if this is good to use but it worked fine) You need to do this for both the driver's side and passanger's side window switches; as it is my understanding that even if you clean the passanger side switch, if the driver's side is dirty it still won't work.....GOOD LUCK!!!

I have the same problem so a stupid question before causing damage-do the switches pry off or do I have to take the inner cover off the door first?

Talking

On my car ('89 turbo) there are two screws that hold on a plastic piece around the switches. Take off the two screws, remove the plastic piece, then it's easy to get to the switches.

BUT--I believe that on the older cars, you don't have the plastic piece & two screws. In this case I THINK it was posted that you carefully pry off the switches.....
