Post What's the nipple for?

Now that you're all awake, I was under the car this morning trying to loosen the 02 sensor (seized, by the way...) and noticed that there's a fitting just aft of the 02 sensor fitting that, on my car, is capped off. There is the remnants of a line that could have attached there, broken off about 2 inches above it that meanders up towards the head. My question is, what was it and is it important enough to replace?

The line is #24 on this pic:

All I've ever heard of it is as some sort of test port.

When I bought my 944, it was NOT capped, melting the + and - battery cables as well as doing a number on the MBC tubing.

I just twisted a big ole screw in there and called it a day. Just plug it up.
