The driver's door on my '84 sticks quite badly. I've found that if I pick up on the door handle and pull that it opens. Maybe a bent hinge or something.

Actually there was one more topic..Theory of why finns are such a great drivers

Ok, what comes to originalsterm's problem.I don't thing there's something bent.More likely two screw's which hold lock in its place are little bit loose. This happend to my previous 944.It caused lock to move to slightly different position and door stucked

Hi Olli [quote] Theory of why finns are such a great drivers...

This must have some relation with the huge area / less cops equation.
Lots of real time practice there...
oh well...I'll be queuing in to get home in a couple of hours...

Congrats with opening the door without damage, this can be a bear.
Please note:
Following happended to a fellow rennlister on the e-mail list:
The screw holding the handle was mixed with one holding the lock.
Screw on handle was too long (2 mm) and limiting the lever movement.
Result: door could not be opened from outside.

You might want to consider Loctite 222 to glue the door lock screws (not the handle).
This is a soft retainer that will prevent them from getting loose again.

Hans,
that is what i have used (Loctite 222).
Have been lately quite a lot in 968 handle & 944 Lock business.Going to change handles also to that '90 S2, which has door stucked.I usually remove the whole lock unit, clean it & relubricate it.Usually same thing to electric windows mechanism too. This S2 will have handle swap to be done as soon as 968 CS mirror kit arrives from Zuffenhausen.Yes, we are going to change the mirrors as well.968 mirrors & handles change the look of 951/S2 totally (better i think).Just can't wait to receive clear front indicator leneses from Joakim/Sweden.

There's nothing like doing 70 mph on snow to teach you car control.
