I thought of that, but I just got the pics posted and couldn't wait. Contrary to popular belief not all 944S' are destined for disaster. They just take a lot of maintainance.
I feel bad for you 944SBoyee, but boy you're taking it like a champ. I wish I had your attitude. If that happened to me I wouldn't take it so well.

The only reason I'm not taking a huge fit is cause I saved the couple of grand up, just incase. Mind you - that money was going to go towards a Supercharger - but not anymore I guess.

I thought all S models were fine also. Mine was low Klms, and just had the belts, etc done a while ago - no dash cracks......seemed perfect. I will find out tomorrow what actually happened, so I can't comment on the S model right now.

I won't sleep much tonite - I'll tell ya's that much!!

Have your cam chain rails been done? Just wondering...

Sorry about your misfortune, Boyee. I was able to found a new S head a few years ago in Montreal.

I was gonna do the plastic rails a while back, but opted to wait for the entire assembly.....I didn't get a chance to do that, obviously.

Peckster - how much did you pay for the new head (I'm guessing you paid in Canadian dollars) and why did you need it???

$1,200 Canadian, several years ago, with valves and lifters that were in OK shape. I found it on the internet somewhere. I think I left a parts wanted message or something back in the days of Porschelist (sorry for saying the P word, hope I don't ge sued.)

I needed it because I had worn lifter bores. I traded the old one for a set of chips for my new car last year. It was noisy, but it still worked at least. Just sold the left-over lifters on ebay for $20.

I saw one for sale somewhere recently, maybe in the classifieds here? It was lots.

Only $1200 Canadian??

Now I feel better. At least I know that an S head CAN be found cheap or expensive. If I need one - I'll find a cheap one.....I know I will.

Good, cheap and fast. Pick any two.

Ryan@usaimage.com This guy had one for $2,000 US I think, although it could be an old ad. If you need one, post a bunch of wanted ads and take your time. It is always cheaper if they come to you.

I sold my 944S Friday and am left feeling a little empty. It was a love/hate relationship but I already miss it.
I learned a lot of great information from this board and "met" some really great people to boot. Thanks and good luck to all of you!

Sorry for the delayed response- I've peen out of pocket. I got $7,300 from the first guy to drive it. I had about 20 calls in the first 3 days of posting it on AutoTrader and in the local paper. I probably could have gottten more, but hind sight is 20/20. I'm happy enough with the price.

Not a bad price for an "S".

I paid $11,000 ($6000 American) Canadian for mine. It has the same miles as the one in this thread and is just as pretty - but with no dash cracks.

Once I put on new belts, valves/seals/springs/seats, Idle Stabilizer Valve, Head Gasket kit and various other gaskets/seals - I should be able to sell it for $7500-8000 American, no? That would be around $15,000-16,000 Canadian - so the money I'm spending recently may be re-couped in the long run.

I'm not selling though - not for a few years or until I find that perfect Turbo.

It sounds to me like $8000 US is about the right price for your car. I think I could have sold mine for that much if I was patient.
Good luck with your car!
